This is a collection of a few of my favourite burger places from around the world! So far it’s only Toronto, Ottawa and Amsterdam, but when I travel more I’ll be able to add more burgers.

Amsterdam

The Butcher: The Butcher

Prime Aberdeen Angus beef, lettuce, tomato, grilled onion & gherkin

This was the first burger I ate in the Netherlands, and I can’t get over how incredible it was. It’s so simple, but somehow done so well.

Lombardo’s: Pork-a-licious

Pulled pork - Red wine onion compote – lettuce - sweet tomato – mini pickles – homemade burger sauce

One of the best burgers that money can buy in downtown Amsterdam. The ingredients are fresh and they really don’t mess around with their food.

Waterkant: Beef Burger with Bacon & Cheese

Black Angus beef burger on a brioche bun with bacon, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, onion, BBQ sauce and spicy mayo

Along with an excellent atmosphere and excellent beers, Waterkant is a must-visit restaurant. Their beef burger also just happens to be one of the best items on their menu.

Ottawa

World Burger: Memphis

Fried Onions, Smoked Meat, Pepper Jack Cheese, Mayo & BBQ Chutney

One of the better snack burgers that I can have on a lazy Sunday afternoon. It is a fast food burger, but the quality of the ingredients and the varieties of the burgers make it so much more than that.

Mill Street Brew Pub: Angus Burger

Ontario-ground chuck / dressed to the nines / sesame seed bun

This fantastic brew pub serves excellent beer, and $5 burgers on Mondays! The Angus burger is an excellent burger, and probably one of the better ones I’ve had in Ottawa.

The Hooch: The Greasy Bastard (RIP)

Andouille sausage/ pimento 5 year cheddar/ jowl bacon/ aioli/ avocado mousse/ sweet potato and pepper brioche

The Hooch was an excellent Bourbon House in Ottawa for several years. Its empty building still stands on Rideau Street, and it pains me to look inside. This was the best burger I’ve ever eaten in my life.

Toronto

Burgatory: Sloth

Beef Burger, Velveeta Cheese, Sloth Sauce (Homemade Big Mac sauce), Tomato, Lettuce, Hickory Sticks

Burgatory is a cleverly-named burger joint in Toronto that has an excellent collection of unique burgers.

Do you have a favourite burger place that I haven’t tried? Let me know what it is and I’ll make an effort to visit it when I can!
